For this yarn, we used noil from spun silk—what is known as noil silk—to create a yarn that rivals pure spun silk. Noil silk is originally the short fibers left over from the spun silk process, low in cost yet naturally blessed with a rugged, textured character. By precisely re-engineering it with nylon using specialized precision equipment, we have softened its fuzziness and brittleness while amplifying its naturally occurring, irregular slubs—details that cannot be artificially replicated. The finished yarn resembles the wind-eroded texture of a mountain's surface, or the relaxed, crisp hand feel of washed linen fabric.
